Master Character Tracking
Learn everything about how TibiaWatch tracks characters, what data we collect, how often we update, and best practices for effective monitoring.
How Character Tracking Works
TibiaWatch retrieves all character information from the official Tibia.com website using publicly available character pages. This means:
- No game account credentials needed - We never ask for your Tibia login or password
- 100% safe and ToS-compliant - Only public information is accessed
- Works for any character - Track characters from any world, even ones you don't own
- Real-time accuracy - Data matches what you see on Tibia.com
Standard Checking
Characters are checked every 30-60 seconds during active monitoring periods. This means most status changes (online/offline, level changes, deaths) are detected within 1-2 minutes.
Smart Polling
Our system uses intelligent polling that adjusts based on character activity patterns:
- • Active characters (online or recently active): Checked every 30 seconds
- • Inactive characters (offline for 6+ hours): Checked every 2-5 minutes
- • Dormant characters (offline for 7+ days): Checked every 30 minutes
Pro Tip: This smart polling ensures we provide real-time updates for active characters while being efficient with server resources for inactive ones.
What Data We Track
Online/Offline Status
Whether the character is currently logged into the game. Updated every 30-60 seconds.
Last Seen
Timestamp of when the character was last detected online. Useful for tracking activity patterns.
Session Duration
How long the character has been online in the current session (for online characters only).
Basic Info
Name, world, vocation, level, and sex. Updated whenever the character page changes.
Guild Membership
Current guild, rank, and title. We detect guild changes and can alert you when someone joins/leaves a guild.
Residence
Which city the character has set as their home town.
Account Status
Free account or Premium account status.
Married To
Character marriage status (if applicable).
Level History
Complete timeline of level changes with timestamps. We detect both level gains (from hunting) and level losses (from deaths).
Achievement Points
Total achievement points. Tracked over time to show progression.
Unlocked Achievements
List of publicly visible achievements. Great for verifying quest completion or rare accomplishments.
Death Log
Comprehensive record of all deaths including timestamp, level at death, killers (players or creatures), and circumstances.
PvP vs PvE Deaths
Automatic categorization of deaths by player kills vs. monster kills. Perfect for war statistics.
Death Assists
Who assisted in the kill (up to 5 players). Critical for understanding team dynamics in wars.
Level Loss Calculation
Automatic calculation of experience lost based on level before and after death.
Visible Characters
If the account has "other characters" visible, we track all characters on the same account. Perfect for identifying alts.
Main Detection
Automatic detection of which character is likely the "main" (highest level, most achievements, etc.).
Note: Only characters marked as visible by the account owner will appear. Hidden characters cannot be tracked.
How to Add Characters
Click the "Add Character" button on your dashboard
Type the character name exactly as it appears in-game (case-sensitive)
Select the character from the dropdown (shows name, level, and world for verification)
Click "Track Character" - the character will appear on your dashboard immediately
Tip: The search uses autocomplete, so you only need to type a few characters before suggestions appear.
Perfect for tracking entire enemy guilds, hunt teams, or large friend groups.
Click "Bulk Import" on your dashboard or in any list
Enter character names, one per line
The system validates each name against Tibia.com automatically
Review the preview (shows which characters were found and which weren't)
Click "Import All" to add all valid characters
Pro Tip: You can paste a guild member list directly from Tibia.com! Just copy the names column and paste it into the bulk import.
When viewing a tracked character's details, you'll see quick-add buttons for:
- Guild members - Add their entire guild with one click
- Other characters - Add all visible characters on the same account
- Death participants - Add characters who killed or assisted in killing this character
- Married partner - Add the character's spouse
Tracking Limits by Plan

Troubleshooting Tracking Issues
Problem: Search doesn't find the character
Solutions:
- • Verify the spelling - character names are case-sensitive
- • Check if the character still exists on Tibia.com
- • Some very old or deleted characters may not be searchable
- • Try searching on Tibia.com first to confirm the name
Problem: Character shows offline but you know they're online
Solutions:
- • Wait 1-2 minutes - updates can have a slight delay
- • Check if Tibia.com is accessible (our source)
- • Use the manual refresh button on the character card
- • If it persists, contact support - there may be a Tibia.com issue
Problem: A death isn't showing in the history
Solutions:
- • Deaths only show if we were tracking the character at the time
- • Very old deaths (before you started tracking) won't appear
- • Free plan only keeps 30 days of death history
- • Some PvP deaths may take a few minutes to appear on Tibia.com
Problem: Can't add more characters
Solutions:
- • Remove inactive or unimportant characters to free up slots
- • Upgrade to Pro (100 characters) or Guild (unlimited)
- • Use character lists to prioritize which characters to track
- • Consider creating a separate account for different purposes
Tracking Best Practices
- ✓Organize characters into lists immediately after adding them
- ✓Add notes to characters to remember why you're tracking them
- ✓Use bulk import for tracking entire guilds efficiently
- ✓Set up alerts right after adding characters you care about
- ✓Remove characters you no longer need to track
- ✓Check the "Recent Activity" feed to stay updated
- ✗Don't track characters you don't actually care about (wastes slots)
- ✗Don't expect instant updates (30-60 second delay is normal)
- ✗Don't panic if status is briefly wrong - wait a minute and refresh
- ✗Don't add the same character multiple times (duplicates waste slots)
- ✗Don't forget to set alerts - passive tracking misses opportunities
